Grandma, Grandpa, and Bailey came for a visit this past weekend!! We didn't tell Geneva they were coming because we wanted her to actually take a nap that day!
We were outside for a walk when they came and they drove right up to us and waved at Geneva. She just stared at them blankly as if in shock. Then when she realized who they were she beamed. Then we ran to the driveway and she made a dash for Grandma.
It was so cool that they brought Bailey too, she was such a good girl the whole weekend! I kinda miss that dog. We found a flower girl dress for Dave and Christel's wedding. Very cute. Next visit perhaps we'll buy one for ourselves. Derek desperately needs a new shirt and tie as well!
It was a wonnnnnderful visit, and as usual, it went waaaaaay too fast.

Book Club

I've been in a book club for almost 3 years now, and loving it still. It's a group of girls from church, and we each take a month in which we pick a book and host everyone at our house. We even have themes! We've dressed up in ties and mustaches, in saris/togas/whatever they're called, in animal-print clothes, etc etc. Very fun. My choice this year was The Memory Keeper's Daughter. An ok read, un petite peu cheese, I must admit. Secret Life of Bees was much better. As was Suite Francaise and Life of Pi (a few good ones of the past that are actually coming to mind) Anyway, a good way to get lots out of books by discussing them afterwards, and a nice way to get to know my girls even more. We missed you Amy and Lisa!

Just so you can see how much Neva's talking lately...

Geneva said an 11 word sentence today. "Mommy me not want little cup, me want special Dora cup" It's fun to actually carry on conversations with her... I can ask her what she did in the nursery at church or what she played with her friend Daniel while I did groceries... She's becoming a real little person. :) And I am loving every minute of it.

What a hoot. After our FUN visit with funcle Brian, Geneva called Derek "Uncle Daddy." :) That alone should pretty much sum up how she feels about her uncles. She adores them.

A Walk with Daddy

Daddy, thanks for taking me to the woods for a walk yesterday! I had SOOOO much fun! It was too bad it was too cold for Brookie to come outside, but I'm glad you bundled me up so good. You are a great daddy and I love you VERY much! Oh ya, and thanks for being patient with me when I'm not a very good listener sometimes. I will try harder to listen with my ears! Love, Geneva

This is for Grandma

So, here's a video I took while on the phone with my mom so she could allllmost feel like she was right here... Ok, it's about a 20 minute delay by the time I upload onto the computer, then download onto utube, then post on the blog... (AND comforting my baby who, the second I got off the phone with you mom, procedeed to roll off her blanket and bonk her head on the floor, poor thing) but hey, seeing a video is better than nothing right?

Daddy time

Geneva loves it when Derek is home for the day. Since Derek is on shiftwork, he often doesn't see his girls for a few days (12 hour shifts) so he always loves his days off and wants to spend lots of time with them. Geneva goes to Derek's side of the bed every morning to look for Daddy and gets sooo excited when he's not at "yert" (work)
